Doula

The Role

The Alabaster House delivers wraparound care by weaving together physical, emotional, and social support for pregnant and postpartum women, all through a streamlined concierge-led suite of offerings.

The doula plays a central role in providing exceptional services to families that transform the experience of welcoming a newborn. You’ll join our world class group of maternal health experts and work in collaboration with physical therapists, mental health therapists, nutritionists, IBCLCs and a concierge - all of whom collaborate to make Alabaster House’s model for providing coordinated postpartum care a reality.

We are currently seeking doulas in the metro-Atlanta area with a priority on doulas who provide overnight care.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a postpartum doula to families, providing the client with emotional, physical, and educational support

  • Deliver exceptional, reliable support to clients in accordance with birth needs or pre-determined schedules. Core responsibilities may include:

    • Listen to the concerns and questions of the client and family in a kind, non-judgmental way and offer the best possible non-medical advice.

    • Provide practical support and advice to the client to prepare for or after childbirth.

    • Provide educational resources to inform and empower the client in their postnatal recovery

    • Assist in whatever way possible to make the transition to parenthood easier, including but not limited to breastfeeding or feeding assistance, tidying the home, involving the other parent and or sibling(s), meal preparation, overnight care, etc.

    • Collaborate with the Alabaster House team to facilitate scheduling appointments as needed across our services and keep necessary providers informed of client needs

    • Engage with clients via messaging to provide responses to questions as they are sent

  • Keep up to date on care standards by conducting research, networking with other Doulas, and attending workshops and lectures

  • Maintain schedule visibility and work with the Alabaster House concierge to keep your availability up to date for current and future clients

  • Consistently ensure a world-class level of care and patient experience; ensure all services are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care, including maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications and Work Requirements

  • Completed certification from a reputable doula certification organization that offers training, including but not limited to: 

    • DONA International 

    • Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA)

    • Childbirth International (CBI)

    • National Doula Certification Board (NDCB)

    • National Black Doula Association

  • Ideal candidates have full spectrum certification and experience to meet certification requirements

  • CPR certification

  • Maintain professional liability insurance

  • Maintain schedule visibility and work with the Alabaster House concierge to keep your availability up to date for current and future clients

  • Availability to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week in an in-person setting

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, and demonstrated excellent bedside manner

  • Reliable, punctual, and collaborative spirit

  • Passion for supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and long-term wellness

  • Clear and demonstrated client service orientation; commitment to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to clients

  • Commitment to continued learning and staying up to date on the latest guidelines on newborn and maternal care from sources including AAP and ACOG

Compensation
