Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
The Role
The Alabaster House delivers wraparound care by weaving together physical, emotional, and social support for pregnant and postpartum women, all through a streamlined concierge-led suite of offerings.
We are currently seeking CLC/IBCLCs with flexibility to provide home care visits or see clients at our location in Morningside.
What You’ll Do
Provide expert lactation and infant feeding support in our Morningside studio, via telehealth, or through in-home visits.
Assess and address feeding challenges, including latching, supply, bottle-feeding, and equipment issues.
Partner with parents to create individualized feeding plans that support their goals—whether exclusively breastfeeding, supplementing with formula, or transitioning fully to formula.
Evaluate infant feeding adequacy and maternal comfort/progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
Offer instruction, counseling, and teaching interventions tailored to the family’s goals, cultural context, language, and literacy level.
Document care, education, and client progress in the client management system according to practice standards.
Provide timely responses to client questions via secure messaging.
Maintain knowledge of and apply current best practices in lactation, infant feeding, and perinatal nutrition.
Curate, review, and update educational materials that reflect a full range of feeding options and support families’ informed choices.
Supply clients with recommended tools and resources (e.g., nipple shields, supplemental feeding aids) to promote successful feeding.
Engage in ongoing professional growth and continuing education in infant feeding and patient education techniques.
Consistently ensure a world-class level of care and patient experience; ensure all services are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
Qualifications and Work Requirements
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with maintenance of Board Certification per IBLCE requirements
2+ years of experience as a Lactation Consultant
Maintain professional liability insurance
Maintain schedule visibility and work with The Alabaster House concierge to keep your availability up to date for current and future clients
Availability to commit to for a minimum of 10 hours per week in an in-person setting
Excellent written/verbal communication skills, and demonstrated excellent bedside manner
Reliable, punctual, and collaborative spirit
Passion for supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and long-term wellness
Clear and demonstrated client service orientation; commitment to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to clients
